Restoring Dignity, Rebuilding Hope – Feminine Hygiene Kit Assembly @ Iglesia De La Comunidad Presbyterian Church
Aug 11 @ 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

There are over 58,000 homeless people living in the Los Angeles County. It is estimated Skid Row’s population ranges from 8,000 to 11,000 people. In 2017 the homeless count reported that women made up 23% of the people living on Skid Row.

Homeless women typically know where to find a safe place to sleep or a hot meal to eat. But when it comes to taking care of their feminine hygiene needs, they often resort to using things like socks, plastic products, food bags, and leaves.

All made kits will go to the women of Union Rescue Mission. URM houses 1,100 people in their Downtown location. It is estimated that 630 are women and children, and 350 are likely single women.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

We NEED product donations and volunteers. The products needed are sealed boxes of tampons and overnight pads, panty liners and hand sanitizer (travel size).

Monetary donations also are needed to purchase items for the kits; donations can be made to our PayPal account: pathwaysmeetup@gmail.com.

Companies, Organizations, Groups, Clubs are welcomed to donate products and volunteer.

In Honor of 9/11 Victims and Heros @ The Midnight Mission
Sep 8 @ 2:45 pm – 6:00 pm

PTV began this tradition in 2015 to honor those we lost and those who became hero’s through a charitable act of service. This year we will serve at The Midnight Mission.

Founded in 1914, The Midnight Mission offers paths to self-sufficiency to men, women and children who have lost direction.

DESCRIPTION OF OPPORTUNITY

Volunteers assist with everything from serving food, to busing tables, to handing out silverware and condiments. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and make some beautiful human connections!

This is a great event for first time volunteers to learn about how a homeless shelter operates. Plus we’ll be given a tour of the facility by someone who is in their recovery program.
