“The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn’t matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.” — Barbara HallI
In 2009, I began my journey into volunteering. The first organization I got involved in was doing artwork with abused children, which I found very rewarding. During this time, I also became a hospice volunteer to visit patients. It was at this time I dedicated my life to service.
A year later a friend asked if I would organize volunteer activities for his Meetup. I agreed and this was the start of leading volunteer groups.
One of the complaints I head from the volunteers was how thankful they were for these volunteering opportunities. Most often people wanted to get involved but were stopped in their with all the red tape to volunteer for a couple of hours.
These complaints sparked the idea for Pathways To Volunteering. I wanted to make volunteering easy and provide great opportunities to get involved. I streamlined the sign-up process by eliminating fees, orientation, training, countless forms to fill out and background checks. All a volunteer needs to do is sign-up, pick one of our handpicked activities and show up.
My vision of promoting volunteerism goes beyond our local communities to global communities. The idea is to make small donations that will fund volunteer activities in developing countries. It’s not our attempt to change culture and tradition. I want to bring volunteerism into the communities to provide for themselves. I believe by helping each other, building relationships and sustainability.
Our Global Vision is to reduce poverty, hunger, homelessness, and bring awareness to issues like children, health, education and environment in developing countries.
I wanted to recruits Global Ambassadors from developing countries to seek out organizations that we could partner with to bring awareness to their cause and to recruit volunteers to promote volunteerism.
My goal is to bring people together from all corners of the earth with the same intent to make the world a better place. It is our belief everyone matters everyone deserves to live a life worth living.
